Guest Speaker!

Hi everyone,

I'm incredibly excited to announce that we will be having a distinguished guest speaker in our committee on Saturday afternoon! Professor Ugo Nwokeji works with the African American Studies and American Diaspora Studies Department here at UC Berkeley, and has a lot of experience conducting research on African cultural history and political economy. More specifically, Professor Nwokeji has dealt with the effects of globalizations on specific regions like the Niger River Delta.

At 1:45 on Saturday, he will join our committee to discuss the impact of the agreements OPEC (and you) make on small communities and domestic politics. It's always easy to forget why we debate the issues we do in MUN. So I'm hoping Professor Nwokeji can help remind us why we debate the issues we do, and why they're so important. It will be great if you can prepare some interesting questions for him to answer during/after his presentation.

Please stay tuned for further announcements and recommended readings by Professor Nwokeji. I'll also be announcing this during committee on Friday and Saturday for anyone who isn't up to date with the blogs.

EDIT:The recommended reading is posted in the latest blog post.
